We are moving!
/Yes, after 26 years in the same home it is time to downsize and move out of the woods so we can see some sky. We are excited! The house is new and the project has just broken ground. We anticipate moving in May 2019.
However, this move has an impact on my business and you. Our new home is in La Center, Washington which is about 12 miles north of our current home (near where I-5 and I-205 meet north of Vancouver).
So, I am going to want to drive less. With Portland traffic this is not a new desire, but the extra distance fuels the feeling even more. As such I will be trying to do a better job of organizing my destinations within the metro area. What that means to you is that it may take a couple of extra days to schedule in your part of town.
What this also means to you is that I would like to do more remote work. Several years ago Apple rolled out remote capability between Macs built into the operating system (starting with 10.11, El Capitan). Most people have moved beyond El Capitan (if you haven’t, you should), so almost all of my clients have the ability for a remote session with me!
This remote ability (with an app called Screen Sharing) lets us both control the mouse, type and perform keyboard shortcuts. Better yet, it includes voice so we will not also have to be on a phone call! I cannot work on iPhones nor iPads remotely, sorry.
I cannot do everything remotely that I do in person, so there will be limits, but I’d say I can perform 80% of the tasks remotely that I can do in person. The upside for you is that it will be much cheaper for you! My pricing for several years now has been $99/hour for onsite work and $65/hour for remote work or work in my home (you bring devices to me).
In addition I am introducing new Mac remote tuneup programs to compliment my onsite tuneup programs that many of you have taken advantage of. You can see the pricing and remote limitations here: https://www.inhometechservices.com/prices/
